Travelling Northbound on the A1 Just after the Washington Services, take the right hand lane (signposted A194 South Shields and Tyne Tunnel), stay in the left lane and take the first slip road sign posted A182 Washington. At the roundabout, take the first left and continue along this road for about 1 mile until the next roundabout. At this roundabout take the 3rd exit (right hand turn) and follow this road for about mile (passing fishing lakes on your left hand side). Take your first left and follow this country road for about mile (passing the equestrian centre) until you reach the Bowes Incline Hotel. Travelling Southbound on the A1 Just after the Angel of the North , take the first slip road, signposted A1231 Sunderland. At the first roundabout, take the first left hand turning ( Springwell and Wreckenton ) and follow this road for about mile (passing Fishing Lakes on your left hand side).
